How a shelving unit is built

All MODACO modules are built from the same parts. The first module in a run (START) has 2 uprights; every module attached after it (ADD-ON) has 1 upright and leans on the previous one.

  1. 1Upright (post)

The vertical frame, 30×70 mm profile, 1.2 mm steel. The START module has 2, the rest 1 each.

  2. 2Foot / base plate

The base of the upright, adjustable for uneven floors.

  3. 3Base shelf

The bottom shelf, deeper (40–45 cm) — carries the heavy loads.

  4. 4Upper shelf

35–40 cm deep, height-adjustable in 5 cm steps.

  5. 5Bracket

The arm that supports the shelf, 2.0 mm steel.

  6. 6Solid back panel

90×30 cm panels that close off the unit.

  7. 7Perforated back

Alternative to the solid back, for hooks.

  8. 8Price rail

The white profile for price labels.

  9. 9Top cover / base plinth

The finishing pieces at the top and bottom of the unit.

  10. 10Front stopper

Keeps small products from falling off the shelf.

START or ADD-ON?

The first unit in a run = START module (has 2 uprights).

Every unit attached after it = ADD-ON module (has 1 upright, leans on the previous one).

Example: 9 metres from 90 cm modules = 1 START + 9 ADD-ON.

Frequently asked questions about shop shelving

How do I work out how many shelving units my shop needs?+

Measure the linear metres of wall (or aisle, for gondolas) and divide by the module length (90 or 120 cm). The first module in each run is a START module; the rest are ADD-ON modules. Example: 9 m of wall with 90 cm modules = 10 modules (1 START + 9 ADD-ON). Use the calculator on this page, or send us your measurements on WhatsApp and we'll prepare the exact list for you.

What is the difference between a START module and an ADD-ON module?+

The START module has 2 uprights and stands on its own — it is the first in the run. The ADD-ON module has 1 upright and leans on the module before it, so it costs less. A correct run = 1 START + the rest ADD-ON. If you ordered only START modules, you would pay for extra uprights for nothing.

Can I extend the shelving run later, in 1–2 years?+

Yes. The system is modular: you can add ADD-ON modules to an existing run at any time, or extra shelves on the existing uprights. The range is permanently in stock and spare parts remain available for years.

How much weight does one shelf hold?+

50 kg per shelf under evenly distributed load. The base shelf (the bottom one) is deeper and carries the heavy items — packs, crates, canisters.

Which shelving height suits a small neighbourhood shop?+

The best-selling format is H190 cm: it covers the wall well without blocking sight lines and light. For low ceilings or mid-floor islands we recommend H130–H160, so you can see across the whole shop.

Do the units mount on the wall or stand freely?+

They stand freely on adjustable feet — no drilling into the wall. Wall units sit flush against the wall; mid-floor gondolas have two display faces and stand in the aisle. For extra safety at tall heights they can optionally be anchored.

Can I buy just shelves / just uprights / just perforated back panels?+

Yes, we sell the parts separately: shelves, uprights (L and T legs), back panels, pegboard hooks and accessories. You will find them in the accessories section — they fit all MODACO 90/120-series shelving.

Which colours are available, and can I order another colour in bulk?+

The standard stocked colour is matte anthracite grey with a white price rail. For large orders we can supply other RAL colours on request — ask for a quote with your quantity and colour.

How long does delivery take and how much is shipping?+

In-stock products ship within 24–48 h by courier or dedicated transport, anywhere in Romania. The cost depends on volume and destination — you see it in the cart before paying, and for large orders we confirm it by phone.

Do you also install the shelving?+

Yes, optionally. One module assembles in about 15 minutes with no special tools, instructions included; if you prefer, our team installs the whole shop — request the installation quote together with your order.

Can they be combined with MODACO refrigerated display cases in one complete fit-out?+

Yes — that is our speciality. We have manufactured refrigeration equipment since 1992 and deliver complete shop fit-outs: shelving + refrigerated display cases + freezers + counters. One supplier, one invoice, one delivery. Send us your floor sketch and you get the full proposal.

What warranty do the units have, and are spare parts available after 5 years?+

24-month warranty. The system is in continuous production, so compatible shelves, uprights, brackets and accessories remain available many years later.
